Artist's Comments

Laura is within three weeks of delivering baby Daxon, so we had little time to waste. We did our third trimester shoot today. To me, this is without a doubt the most important series of photos I've ever taken. I hope you have enjoyed following it as much as I've enjoyed taking them.

Lighting Notes:
This one was carefully planned. I wanted to emphasize the curve of her body, and the heaviness of the belly, so I placed the primary light (flash with softbox) above her to the left of the frame. The high angle would cast a shadow below her belly, but illuminate her face and the upper contours of her body. The second flash with softbox was placed directly behind her, but pointing primarily at the backdrop to illuminate it and bounce light through her sheer shirt to silhouette her back. Without that light, the shirt looks solid black and conceals half of her shape. I added a third light very high and pointing at her hair to give some highlight and definition.

In case you'd like to see some of the others in this series, check them out here:

So simple and black and whitish.
A focus on lighting, certainly, but like never before, the photo has a "story"
Very well done.
I like it even more now, the transparency of the shirt in the back is a beautiful tough

I don't like this as much as some of the past ones, but there's one thing about it that I absolutely love. I really can't get over how lovely the curve of the model's back, combined with the light and the sheer nature of the fabric of her... um... toppish-thing. A very, very, very excellent touch. Fat kudos (no pun intended, I swear), congrats to Laura, and Daxon's a fucking excellent name.

strangely enough, i always type "tough" when i mean to type "touch" but since i know this, i always automatically hit backspace-backspace-c-h every time i finish attempting to the word "touch." :D

I really like the contrast that you got with this photo, it gives a lot of emphasis to her body. I think the way you positioned the photo is just great, it seems to add even more "weight" to the photo since a majority of her body is in the lower half :) Excellent photo, I can't wait to see the rest :D

:) Thanks. I always say there's no point to sheer fabric unless you can see through it.
