Artist's Comments

Temples, known as "Wats" are everywhere in Thailand. They are central to Thai culture and the Buddhist faith, housing ancient artifacts and artistic treasures. I had a wonderful view of the sunset from my hotel room in Chiang Mai. The thick air of Chiang Mai, made smokey by the seasonal burning of dry vegetation, turned the sunset into a hazy, lazy, orange stew. Fortunately, I was able to capture the sun sinking perfectly between the peaks of this Wat's rooftop.

A reminder that we have some immensely talented staff members and while it's generally not my style to DD someone so popular, quite frankly, Traditional Sunset by ^superkev is beyond compare. The spectacular colours and clever composition profoundly demonstrate the brilliance of this photographer. If you haven't taken time to notice the artists behind the administrators.. you should. did u use a polarizer to stop the sun from glaring or is that just taken naturaly with the camera?

just shot right into the sun. no filters. underexposing by about 2 stops prevented the glare. :)

the sky was unbelievable there. kinda hazy and ugly during the day, but in the evening... zowie! :P

Ahhhhh... so ~here~ is your traditional sunset pic eh? =D


nice framing between the curves in the housing.. (I'm sure there's an actual 'name' for those designs... but eh,)

The orange is nice... I would say there is a ~bit~ of head-room, but I think it also adds to the feel of the sun going 'down'

Sporting the new avvi huh? Cool.
